Should we expect more from the Sony Ericsson C903?

The announcement that Sony Ericsson is to release the Sony Ericsson C903 comes amidst many other high profile launches from the mobile giants. Perhaps that is why we are a little less excited about the C903 as we normally would be. Nevertheless, we will continue to let you know about the specifications for this middle of the road handset, as not everybody wants the top of the range mobile phones that cost the earth.
The Sony Ericsson C903 according to the press release will come complete with a 5 Mega pixel camera. Whilst this doesn’t sound that great, the lens on the SE phones are actually quite good. If you think back to the C902, then you are not that far off in terms of image quality. Of course Sony Ericsson has topped up their offering with some fancy software add-ons to improve the image quality of the pictures that are being taken.
Firstly there is “Best Pic” and “face detection”, which aim to bring out the faces of people in the photographs that are taken. There is also 16X digital zoom, which if we are totally honest is not that much use, as beyond about 8X the image gets so distorted that it isn’t really worth zooming in quite that far.
The screen is 2.4 inches which is average for a phone of this quality. However you can post images directly to your blog our view them on a TV. Sony Ericsson have also thrown in GPS, to allow Geo-tagging of your photographs, which is a handy little feature, although not altogether necessary. Overall this is a great value proposition that will probably be well suited for the pay as you go market, or cheaper contracts with a lower monthly cost. You can see the promotional video below!
