The Sony Ericsson W580i – A Great Set of Features in a Flawed Handset

During July of 2007 Sony Ericsson released the Sony Ericsson W580i which was set to be a great phone with a brilliant set of features. It definitely has a nice set of features but unfortunately the handset was flawed and a lot of people complained about the keypad breaking very early on after purchasing the phone. I’ve seen a lot of W580i reviews and a lot of them comment on the keypad and state how it was poorly designed and simply too weak to put up with the strains of everyday texting. It’s a real shame as well because on paper this phone is great and the features are really good but this flaw meant a drop in sales.
I’ve also seen that a lot of mobile phone contracts are on offer at the moment and with the run up to Christmas the deals are probably going to get better. The Sony Ericsson W580i orange phone is the best value for money at the moment but I’d suggest shopping around if you’re looking for the Sony Ericsson W580i on contract or on PAYG just to make sure you get yourself the best deal. All in all, the W580i is a great phone but the keypad problem is simply unacceptable in my book.
Overall, the Sony Ericsson W580i could have been such a great phone and the features, including a 2 mega pixel camera, a media player and of course Walkman Player 2.0, are great for the time it was released. I’ve seen a Sony Ericsson W580i video which is definitely worth watching if you’re interested in this phone because it’ll give you a clearer idea of the features available and how the phone really works in your hand. All in all, the Sony Ericsson W580i is still a good phone but I’d suggest it only to light users.
