Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 to Get Update
It seems like the XPERIA X2 smartphone has not been completely forgotten by Sony Ericsson and Microsoft.
A two in one update is already out for the handset and it brings not only the update Windows Mobile 6.5.2 update but also some XPERIA based UI improvements as well. The Panels, Dialer and other functions such as the onscreen keyboard has been revamped and greatly improved.
This follow up to the X2 comes as an unexpected surprise as the device was hardly a success anywhere. In fact, the X2’s availability in the UK is practically zero as Vodafone took it out of its 2010 roster when the device was delayed for launch last December. The phone finally came out early in January though it is not yet available locally. It was also reported that an update to Windows Mobile 6.5.3 might be available this coming May.
Speaking of Sony Ericsson, the new Android smart phone from the joint venture is already available in various operators. The XPERIA X10 Android smartphone is the most impressive SE device in terms of hardware to date. Aside from its impressive 8 mega pixel camera and 4 inch capacitive touch screen display, the device also runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The device only runs version 1.6 of the Android OS, but an update to the latest version has been announced just recently.
In addition to the X10, Sony Ericsson will also be releasing two mid range Android smart phone devices this May, the X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro. While the two devices are considerably smaller and have less in terms of hardware, the two Android devices still pack some good specs with the 2.3 inch touch screen displays and 600 MHz processors. The Mini Pro will also have a QWERTY keyboard.
